ARTIST STATMENT
This current series of paintings represent an ongoing exploration of my fascination with rocks and their symbolic significance. Metaphors of both the weight of our human condition as well as the light of our aspirations are represented by abstracted rock formations. These formations — Cairns – are human-made stacked rock structures that typically mark a path or burial place. They are a way of saying “you are here” and announcing one’s place in the greater landscape.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Annie Danberg is an art therapist and life-long artist based in San Rafael, Ca. She draws inspiration from the infinite mysteries of the natural world, and the ways that nature can reflect the inner world of the psyche. She takes a process-oriented approach in her abstract paintings in acrylic and oil where she allows the voice of her intuition to dance with organic form.
