ARTIST STATMENT
"Autumn Leaves" is a collaboration between mixed media artist Inna Zatulovsky and photographer Michael Endicott. The photograph, the cover on scaffolding of a building being repainted and remodeled, serves as the background landscape for addition of Inna's leaves, paper and stencil. The tear in the fabric and the angled buildings represents the forces causing upheaval in our world, be it pandemics, politics, wars, or economic displacements. Overall, the piece, with its falling leaves creates a cozy atmosphere, marks the resilience of communities who tuck in to help each other, and like the worn buildings under cities tarps, we cheer each other, assist our neighbors and rebuild neighborhoods. Autumn leads to winter which leads again to spring, and then to summer, reminding us that we always return to the light.
