I paint watercolor still lifes in which I endeavor to convey the intimacy I establish with my subjects.
I rescue specific moments in time that otherwise would never be seen again. I apply layers of color to create intensity and luminosity.
My work is representational but uses abstraction for clarity.
In the turbulent times in which we live, it is important to remember and observe the beauty around us.

I am a watercolor artist living in Sebastopol. I earned my B.A. In Art from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Secondary Teaching Credential from the University of Southern California. I taught high school art for over 30 years, the last 20 at Healdsburg High School. I have been painting sharp-focus still lifes for over 40 years and love surprising people by using watercolor in a way that is unexpected.
